Building Defensible Active Shooter and Security Programs
Dr. Scott Hill, CPP, CHPA will teaching attendees how to build defensible active shooter and security programs. Attendees will also learn about the unique risks of an active shooter, how to identify other specific risks and address their risks as appropriate.
-Dr. Scott Hill’s Bio-
Dr. Hill managed the safety and security program as Director for King’s Daughters Health System for over 25 years. Scott has also served in many different leadership capacities at UK King’s Daughters for his 31 + year career after starting off as a security officer. He also served many years as the Chief Privacy Officer for the health system. Scott is currently the Executive Director of Community Engagement for UK King’s Daughters while also overseeing the Pastoral Care Department. Scott has served Ashland Community and Technical College for many years as adjunct faculty in the Criminal Justice-Security program. He also served on faculty in the Criminal Justice-Security program at Eastern Kentucky University for several years. In addition, he is a doctoral dissertation advisor with Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville TN and has served as consultant and trainer for many years. Dr. Hill is the founder, owner, and senior consultant for Secure Health Inc. that has been serving all businesses, hospitals and healthcare organizations nationwide with security consulting and training for over 25 years.
Scott has served as Chairman and is the founder of the Kentucky Chapter of the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS). Scott has served on the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety Foundation (IAHSS-F) Board. Scott is also very active serving his community locally. He currently is on the Board for the Salvation Army, Friends of Greenbo Lake State Resort Park Inc., Kiwanis of East Greenup County, and Russell Rotary. Scott also serves his church as Senior Pastor.
Scott graduated from Ashland Community College in 1991 with his associate degree in Criminal Justice. He completed his bachelor’s degree in Police Administration and Security, and his Master’s Degree in Safety and Loss Prevention both from EKU. He also completed his Doctorate from Trevecca Nazarene University in Leadership. His doctoral dissertation was focused on Healthcare Security. Dr. Hill completed a large research study focused on Security Controls in the ED for the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety Foundation (IAHSS-F). Recently Dr. Hill completed a large research study focused on the effectiveness of Body Worn Cameras in the healthcare environment for the IAHSS-F. Dr. Scott Hill is a Certified Protection Professional (CPP), and a Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator (CHPA). Personally Scott is married to his high school sweetheart Michelle who is a chemistry teacher at Russell High School. Scott and Michelle have three children Jordan, Madison, and Bryson, and reside in Wurtland, KY.
